  • Work with the Producer and Presenter to script and direct visually interesting pieces-to-camera from a variety of locations around the region.


Antiques Roadshow – OB Director
BBC One HD | June 2014 – September 2014

  • Invited by the Series Editor of this long-running flagship BBC programme to train as one of their multi-camera OB directors.
  • Work with Producers, antiques experts and contributors to devise engaging sequences.
  • Communicate the vision for the recording with members of the production team and technical crew.
  • Simultaneously vision mix and direct the output.


Super League Show – Studio Director
BBC One, BBC Two | December 2010 – present

  • Frequently direct this 45 minute multi-camera Network sports programme.
  • Work closely with Producers from the independent production company to develop creative treatments for the programme.
  • Complicated running orders, fast-paced camera direction and busy graphic screen reveals require quick-thinking and a calm directing style.


Sunday Politics – Studio Director
BBC One (Yorkshire & Lincolnshire) | December 2010 – present

  • Regular director on this weekly studio-based political discussion programme.
  • Collaboration with Producers and Graphic Designers to create visually-arresting graphic insets for studio screens.
  • Directed a number of 30 minute live multi-camera OBs as part of special 2015 election coverage.


Late Kick Off – OB Director
BBC One (Yorkshire & Lincolnshire) | December 2010 – present

  • Work as a Multi-Camera Studio Director on this regional weekly football discussion show.
  • Liaised with Producers to plan the programme’s busy running orders.
  • Commissioned graphic designs for the studio screens from the graphic design department.


Election 2015 Special – OB Director
BBC One | May 2015

  • Directed this special ‘Question Time’ style debate programme for BBC Look North from the First Direct Arena in central Leeds.
  • Heavily involved in the pre-production and planning, including technical requirements, logistics, staffing etc.
  • Directed the seven camera debate from a scanner at the arena.


More Power for Yorkshire? – Studio Director

  • Asked to direct this special 45 minute programme for TX on BBC One HD, filmed at the University of York
  • Devised a ‘Question Time’ look and feel for the programme. Organised staging, lighting, sound, camera and staffing requirements.
  • Shot on eight cameras including jimmy jib.


BBC Academy – Studio Director
BBC Academy | July 2012

  • Worked with the BBC Academy to deliver television training for 80 people from the Academy’s studios in West London.
  • Directed a series of mock ‘One Show’ episodes as a training exercise for staff.
  • Fast-paced programmes featuring live OBs, studio guests, props, graphics sequences.
  • Programmes presented by Angelica Bell and Michael Underwood.


Olympic Torch Live: Yorkshire – OB Director
BBC One | June 2012

  • Directed a live multi-camera OB as the Olympic Torch arrived in Sheffield city centre.
  • Over three months, led a small creative team in the planning of this major live event.
  • Carried out multiple site visits, technical recces, drew up camera plans and produced glossy VTs.
  • Acted as live OB director on transmission day, using eight cameras including jimmy jib and helicopter.
  • Coverage anchored by five presenters, including former England cricket captain, Michael Vaughan.


Eddie Izzard’s De Coubertin Lecture – Studio Director
The Space (BBC) | June 2012

  • Worked as the Director for a lecture delivered by Eddie Izzard ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
  • Event presented by Alan Yentob and Eddie Izzard, and delivered in English and French infront of a large studio audience.
  • Heavily involved in the pre-production of the event, liaising closely with the Producer in order to achieve the technical and editorial ambition of the programme.
  • Complex technical rig involved streaming live pictures from the Olympic Park via 3G to the television studio.


BBC Midlands Today – Technical Operator 
BBC One | June 2009 – December 2010

  • Worked as a multi-skilled technical operator on the BBC’s regional news programme for the Midlands.
  • Trained to vision mix, direct, floor manage, operate studio cameras, basic sound mixing.
  • Worked on a variety of news, sport and politics programmes both in studio and on location.
